Modern Australian$$

When a pair of fine-diner chefs go cafe, some things are assumed. One: the name refers to the street, not the processed meat. And two: the all-day brunch is a cut above. Bruschetta is spread with avocado, Meredith goat’s fetta and house-pickled beetroot, while a plate of fried morcilla is elegant yet substantial, with potato and celeriac gratin, apple and a perfect 63-degree egg. The case for dessert brekkie is made and won with sticky black rice pudding with salty coconut cream and caramelised banana, and again by French toast with sharp rhubarb jam and peanut butter ice-cream. The coffee is a winner, too.
