Don Tojo

Japanese

Like its older sibling Don Don, Don Tojo has made its name for the speed with which your meal appears - almost before you’ve decided where to sit. The menu is transplanted from the Swanston Street store, with one essential difference: booze. That’s certainly one reason the place is perennially filled with students and suited workers knocking off early, but the generous servings don’t hurt. Steaming bowls of curry with udon or rice are the go, but soba salad takes a less common tack, with kiwifruit and orange wedges joining the tofu and vegie mix. Cheap, cheerful, but splashes of charm.
