Dong Que

Vietnamese$$

Dong Que's lime-green walls and bucolic-themed paintings are reminiscent of rural Vietnam, which is fitting as Dong Que means 'countryside' and the menu is as authentic as it gets on bustling Hopkins Street. Traditional favourites like banh cuon, steamed rice paper and minced pork with accompanying cured pork meat, is a tasty starter; the Vietnamese pancake, ban xeo, is light and crispy at the edges with a smattering of fried shrimp and a generous side of lettuce and Viet herbs; and the bun chu Hanoi (grilled pork with rice vermicelli) is succulent with a hint of sweet. Service is warm and attentive, just as you'd expect in the country.
