Crinkly or straight? Lightly salted or pimped to within an inch of their lives? How do Melburnians like their chips in 2016? One thing is for sure; gone are the days when cardboard-like chips from the local corner shop cut the mustard in this town. Here's a tour of the city's top chips.

Gazi

Fat chips with feta. The Greeks are spiritually at one with the chip, and at George Calombaris's modern city taverna Gazi they're a heavenly mix of fat chip with salty feta, oregano and garlic oil.

It's all about the crinkle cut fry, just like the ones from the school tuckshop (back when the school tuckshop served such things), sprinkled with Old Bay.
