Beautiful, bucolic Berry is renowned for its eclectic food scene. Drop in for a tasting and a bite to eat at Jasper Valley Wines, have a very traditional cuppa at The Berry Tea Shop and grab a cinnamon doughnut from the Berry Donut Van. Browse the local providores in town. Check out Berry Sourdough Café and South Coast Providores and Pompadours Chocolate House for gourmet goodies.
Heritage buffs should head to Berry Historic Museum and Berry Courthouse, arty types can browse Flying Pig Precinct and Muir House Art Gallery while trainspotters will love Penwood Miniature Railway, open on the first Sunday of every month.
Berry loves a festival too. The Berry Country Fair is held on the first Sunday of every month with fresh produce, plants, food, clothing and arts and crafts for sale. There's a National Motoring Heritage Day, Celtic Festival, Winter Orchid Show, Small Farm Field Day, Antiques Fair and even the Shoalhaven Superheroes Festival.
Lee Saunders, Owner, IGA Berry
"We've been trading for 30 years and we are very much focused on the local area. We stock gourmet, gluten-free and organic – whatever customers want, we get in. We stock a wide range of cheeses, fresh fish, sauces and specialised milk and yoghurts from Coyo, Eat Gourmet and Barambah Organics.
Some of our popular local products include South Coast Milk, Bodalla Dairy cheeses, Tapitalie honey and award-winning gourmet sausages from Mountain Side Meats. We also carry 'ducking' sauces from Hungry Duck restaurant and chocolates and relishes from The Treat Factory.
We are currently working on creating a space in the store for growers and producers to display their products."
