Canberra restaurants are joining the Good Food Month festival in October, including a ‘‘Sunday family lunch’’ at Aubergine, Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide regional restaurant of the year. Lanterne Rooms in Campbell and Malamay in Barton will hold ‘‘world dinners’’, and the Hotel Realm will hold pop-up-style dinners on its terrace.

At Aubergine, chef and owner Ben Willis, pictured, is turning the tables on reviewer Bryan Martin and offering him the kitchen for the October 13 three-course lunch. It’s the ‘‘reviewer’s chance’’ Willis says, and is that a friendly smile or a steely glint in the eye? Actually, Willis has enough on his plate at the moment, with his first baby, Chloe, born on July 7 to wife Andy.

Good Food Month is a chance for Good Food Guide-ranked restaurants to show what they can do. Canberra restaurants have until this Friday, August 2, to get involved. See goodfoodmonth.com.
