Bronte's Three Blue Ducks spawned satellite operations and even a farm. Now it's the turn of another cafe from the eastern suburb to expand beyond the beach.

Eugene's Cafe, a nine-year Bronte staple, has opened a second store, near the police station at the Kings Cross fountain.

The site doesn't have extraction, so there's no serious cooking (sorry, that means Bronte's magic mushroom dish hasn't made the trip) but the new cafe has a different agenda.

"Our take-out home meals are really popular and we thought they'd work well in Potts Point," says owner Eugene Giesinger.

The chef worked at Lucio's, Darley Street Thai and London's Pied a Terre before opening Eugene's.

"There's a fish pie, a meatballs dish and a chicken curry. As something different we thought we'd offer it on the eat-in menu at Potts Point for people to try."
