Fresh from opening Sonora restaurant on Bayswater Road, restaurant operators the Milpa Collective have returned to more familiar turf for their latest venue, a Cuban-inspired bar at Bondi.

La Palma, which opened last week, slides in behind Hall Street Restaurant A Tavola and next door to Blanca eatery.

It's also near the Collective's Taqiza, on Glenayr Avenue. Owners Pablo Galindo Vargas and Liber Osorio have joined forces with Joaquin Saez (Cho Cho San, The Apollo) with their fourth outlet and third Bondi venue.

Inspired by Cuban venues populated by Americans during the prohibition era, the space has been designed to evoke a bar in Havana during that time. You be the judge.
