The mushroom hot chocolate has landed in Eveleigh with the opening of Egg of the Universe. Owners Harry and Bryony Lancaster have been perfecting the recipe at the original Egg, in Rozelle.

"Mushrooms have great health properties," Harry Lancaster says. "The problem with a lot of the mushroom hot chocolates is they just often don't taste very good. We use Mason's Mushrooms and organic cold-pressed unroasted cacao beans, [so] it has a great savoury-sweet taste."

Egg, a clever wholefoods cafe and yoga studio concept, is also home to a new-age porridge made with "uncontaminated oats", which makes it more friendly for the gluten intolerant.

In time the team would like to get a liquor licence and branch into organic wines. Meanwhile customers can snack on happy biscuits. You can find out for yourself how they get their name. We'll take two.
