Teofilo Nobrega, a long-termer in the kitchen at Potts Point's Fratelli Paradiso, has joined Bellucci Cucina, which opens its shutters in the city today.

"Teofilo has been at Fratelli for 13 years. What he can do with pasta is incredible," says Bellucci owner George Nahas.

The venue's structure, which Nahas describes as a cross between a bungalow and a UFO, is positioned above Ryan's Bar in the city and went through a thorough approval journey.

"It took a long time. It's surrounded by great Harry Seidler architecture and had some building fixtures we needed to work around, but the end result is the best thing I've been involved with," Nahas adds.

Nobrega's contemporary Italian will kickstart the day with pastries and breakfast dishes, stretching into afternoon aperitivi, wood-fired pizzas and its signature pastas.

Bellucci's design mixes old school and new. Supper is also something Nahas is keen to do.

Open breakfast and lunch Mon-Fri; dinner Wed-Fri.
