The smart cookies behind Caulfield South's Mr Brightside and Malvern's Neon Tiger have opened another southside venue.

Upsy Daisy is a gleaming aqua hangout with frozen yoghurt at the front, a diner-style cafe at the back and a dog-friendly outdoor nook.

Just across the road from the brilliant new Booran Reserve, the cafe is making a play for the swings-n-slides crowd with a focus on caffeine, "superfood" bowls and smoothies.

Can't find the place? Listen out for the junior chorus: "Muuuuum, can I've a fro-yoooooooo?"

Toddler-wranglers fuel up on things like the spirulina and acai bowl, bright blue and topped with fruit and buckwheat muesli, or a version of avo toast scattered with beetroot, smoked salmon and spicy sprinkles.

Otherwise, they're building "upsy bowls" by choosing a base (rice, noodles, quinoa), and toppings (various veg and dollop options).

I'm not in love with the disposable everything – coffees are served in single-use cups even if you're eating in – but the idea is to massage away parental pressure points: mum can order a bite, then if the little ones get restless, it's easy to up sticks in a flash.
