Melbourne's Jollygood Sandwiches adds second location in Reservoir brewery Future Mountain

Melbourne lockdown success story, Jollygood Sandwiches, is popping up at a second location, serving chicken sangas, French dip rolls and some new menu items from former Gimlet chef Raphael Exton Pery.

Until June 19, Future Mountain brewery in Reservoir is the latest host of Exton Pery's sandwich operation, which has attached itself to various booze-focused venues since it launched in September 2020.

"My sandwiches have always been designed so that you can have them with a glass of wine or beer. Even my gravy is made with a stout beer," he says.

Future Mountain, which specialises in seasonal, wild beers, is a neat fit for Jollygood's chef-quality sangas. New item the vodka dip riffs on the in-vogue French dip (involving a sandwich with consomme for dipping) and the equally trendy vodka Napoli sauce, which here accompanies a sandwich of provolone, salami, grilled zucchini and basil.

Poutine is another new item Exton Pery has added to the heartier Reservoir menu, made with a gravy featuring Future Mountain's A Million Stars dark ale. He also recommends pairing the ale with his original French dip, made with roast beef, swiss cheese, mustard and horseradish.

The rest of the menu features Jollygood favourites, like the cheese and salad, although all sandwiches now come on crusty ciabatta rolls from Dench.

Jollygood's home within Near and Far bar in Fitzroy has become an indefinite pop-up and the chef is exploring other collaborations in the near future after Future Mountain wraps up.
