As nightly temperatures drop, our hospitality scene is heating up.Dust off your coat, throw on a scarf, and venture out into the winter wonderland that is Sydney. There is plenty to do, and even more to eat.

This month, Rising Sun Workshop chef Ellie Hayes O'Brien and restaurant manager Bec Shave have teamed up to create BABS, a pop up dinner celebrating female-led kitchen and dining rooms.

Inspired by the authenticity and "bad ass" attitude of iconic American singer and actress Barbra Streisand, Hayes O'Brien and Shave aim to create "a unique experience that challenges the traditional modes of restaurant service".

What does that mean? Well, you'll have to be there to find out. The first of their monthly pop-up dinners will be held at Valentina's at Marrickville on Sunday, June 19. Diners of all dietary restrictions will be catered for with a menu inspired by regional Mexican cuisine, created in conjunction with The Alex chef Mariana Escalera Beverido.
