With fine dining on the nose in Sydney, confirmation CBD fine diner Altitude is introducing a new grill-focused menu this month piqued our interest.

The spiritual home of the $170 Epicurious menu is now offering a $24 wagyu beef pie at lunch? Say, what?

Altitude touts a new approach of bringing together "the rich and diverse flavours found both on land and by sea". While that may sound a little surf 'n turf to some, the restaurant's executive chef says it isn't wholesale change at Altitude, just a "realignment".

So you can now lunch on charred octopus ($26), pink snapper in paperbark ($42), or a 250-gram rib-eye for $49. Altitude's website lists a minimum spend of $500 on a window table Fridays and Saturdays, so that's still clearly upper-level dining in our books.
