A snackshot of Melbourne's essential COVID-safe food events this week.

La Fiera festival comes to you

We may be able to get back to restaurants from next week, but big festivals are still a way off. Myrtleford's La Fiera Italian festival usually gives Alpine region winemakers such as Gapsted, Feathertop and Homestead a boost.

Following the devastating bushfire drop in sales, the festival organisers have created piccolo and grande hampers so you can take the region home. For $175, you'll get four wines and local food products such as Patrizia Simone's duck dagu, chestnuts, local oils and coffees, or for $275 you'll get 10 wines. Prices include shipping. Michael Lambie opens Soi 10 at the Grosvenor

Chef Michael Lambie's take on south-east Asian dishes have made restaurants such as The Smith (RIP), Lamaro's in South Melbourne and Lucy Liu (which he recently sold out of) stars. Can his sticky beef rendang and prawn and ginger dumplings do the same for the small space that held the St Kilda Burger Bar?

Lambie and the Grosvenor's Simon Moss will be offering a drive away menu to start, but with restrictions easing on June 1, you may be able to dine in on soft-shell crab with roasted rice. grosvenorhotel.com.au

In case you don't find the prospect of nabbing 2kg of Meredith marinated goat's cheese or five litres (that's a bona fide bucket) of Gundowring ice-cream for $50 each exciting enough, how about adding some neon-clad skaters to the mix?

Mount Zero, the Victorian producer of olives, oil and spices has been supporting other growers and producers deprived of restaurant clients during lockdown. All goods can be purchased through their online store then loaded into your car at Mount Zero's Sunshine West warehouse by roller disco group Skate Odyssey to the beats of DJ Chris Gill on May 30, from 9am-2pm. mountzeroolives.com

Yum cha at home

Granted, half the point of yum cha is the rattle, steam and psychological warfare, but until we can get back to big dining halls, David's in Prahran is offering weekend boxes of yum cha including dumplings, pork buns, chinese broccoli, fried chicken ribs and all the other hits to help if you've had your quota of friends over the night before. It's $56 for two, pick-up or local delivery. davidsrestaurant.com.au

Rone at Vue de Monde

Australian street artist Rone, known for large-scale artworks of women's faces painted over abandoned spaces, had a hugely successful show at the Shannon Bennett-owned Burnham Beeches hotel last year.

Now, he's completing a mural at the entrance of Vue de Monde giving the fine diner on the 55th floor of the Rialto extra pull when restrictions lift.

The Thornbury Fromagerie

Tassos Dermetzoglou and Olivia Ientile's Thornbury cheese and wine bar had a hot five minutes to win hearts and minds before shutdown, but there are worse products to have in your arsenal than Woodside chevre, a large amount of Époisses and a tidy wine list to deliver to bored isolators.

The couple are going to continue home deliveries (bundles of Australian or French cheeses with optional wine add ons) with plans to reopen on June 1. Find them at 666 High Street, Thornbury.
