About Life heading to Surry Hills

The closure of the Thomas Dux store in Crown Street, Surry Hills isn't great news for the Woolworths-owned food chain, but Sydney being Sydney there is another food operator keen to step up and take the vacated space.

About Life, the fast-growing wholefoods lifestyle store, will open in the site on Friday.

It'll include a 30-seat cafe, but co-owner Jodie Stewart says it'll be a more pruned food offering than the cafes in some of its other stores.

"It'll have the salads and juices, grab-and-go stuff, but we don't want to be going into Sydney's coolest cafe district being too ambitious ... The supermarket is still our core market," she says.
