St Claude's, the universally well-reviewed restaurant that opened in 2015 in the former home of Woollahra institution Claude's, has shut.

Terry Durack's 15/20 review of the then newly opened restaurant lauded its new crew, which included kitchen experience from the Claude's days.

"With a chef who knows what he's about, floor staff who are polished yet relaxed, and classy, considered, modern French cooking, St Claude's now casts its own shadow," Durack penned.

Locals were surprised by its sudden shuttering.

The restaurant's website states it is permanently closed, without any clue behind its departure.

"It has just become available, vacant possession, fully fitted with a PSA," agent Zorick Toltsan says.
