The team behind Camperdown urban farm and restaurant Acre want acreage and aren't afraid to travel to snap it up, snaring a prized lot in Melbourne.

Acre Farm & Eatery will open later this year in the southern city after Sydney operator Tully Heard snared a rooftop plot at Burwood Brickworks space, reportedly beating off pitches from fancied US operators.

A 2000-square-metre urban farm will slide into the space. John Tully from Tully Heard (which helped pioneer Sydney's bowling club revival at The Greens before opening Acre) says they'll continue to challenge how urban dwellers think about and consume food.

And Tully says they aren't finished with Sydney expansion. They want a larger stable of venues, and a looming deal in Sydney's north could be the next venue to saddle up.
