It's every restaurateur's nightmare. A busy Saturday night, 177 guests booked for dinner and the entire kitchen staff walks outs in protest, presumably with stock still bubbling, after the head chef was dismissed.

This sounds like a possible assignment for Uber Eats, but proved a challenge for management at NOLA Smokehouse and Bar, which sent bewildered guests looking for somewhere else to eat at Barangaroo on the busiest night of the week.

"Unfortunately, after careful consideration, we had to let our head chef go on Saturday night and this, combined with a technical fault, meant we had to shut down our evening service," NOLA owner Pete Fischer confirmed.

The restaurant didn't go into the reasons behind the dismissal, but says the issues were addressed "on a number of occasions" prior, and while the whole team initially walked out, they were back in the kitchen for Sunday lunch service.

A popular haunt with many of the chefs at Barangaroo, maybe one of them might take the recently vacated head chef position?
