Minanoie, the Japanese cafe and design space that CIBI's Meg and Zenta Tanaka owned on Peel Street, Collingwood, closed for business last Friday. Its closure comes off the back of sister venue CIBI's recent expansion and relocation to a larger site on Keele Street, also in Collingwood.

The couple said: "As CIBI expands, Minanoie is coming back to be consolidated into the CIBI mothership. We had a wonderful tenure in Peel Street, meeting so many people at Minanoie and enjoying so many amazing moments and experiences there. CIBI will continue to grow the Mina spirit and we look forward to catering to even more people and groups from our new CIBI space."

The new CIBI, which reopened just a few doors up from its original location on Keele Street in early October, is light and airy, with brightly polished concrete floors, white walls and high ceilings. A range of fresh produce and Japanese pantry goods as well as homewares are available to purchase, and both the Plant Society and picture framers United Measures have set up shop inside. The full Minanoie menu is available at CIBI.

CIBI, 33-39 Keele Street, Collingwood (03) 9077 3941, shop.cibi.com.au; open Mon-Fri 7am-5pm, Sat-Sun 8am-5pm.
