Flinders Lane is about to get another dining option for already spoiled Melburnians, with Chris Lucas opening his latest restaurant, Grill Americano, in less than two weeks. It will be Lucas's sixth CBD venue and follows hot on the heels of his nearby trio Society, Lillian Terrace and Yakimono.
Taking cues from northern Italy, Grill Americano will serve meat cooked on a Josper grill, including the "rarest wagyu breeds", complemented by braises, handmade pastas, Italian desserts and more. A cellar holds more than 2,000 bottles of wine from Australia and abroad.
The flashy 145-seat venue is part of the 101 Collins Street building, but with a Flinders Lane entry that's marked by bright blue awnings. Inside are large circular light features, blue velvet upholstery and a wood-fired oven from Naples. Waiters in suit jackets will complete the picture.
"Grill Americano speaks of the rich cultural heritage of Melbourne as one of the best food cities in the world," said Lucas in a statement.
The venue opens on March 21 and bookings are open now.
