The food industry has always been the first to help those in need in the community, and even now when they are one of those most in need many are still reaching out.

Hearth & Soul, in Newtown, is offering a free meal service for anyone who has suffered job or revenue loss (registrations are on its website). Others are helping producers.

Paddington eatery Daily Greens is trying to help suppliers, farmers and providores hit by the pandemic, selling produce direct at wholesale rates.

And Murilo Fagundes, who set up Chez Food to help reduce food waste in Sydney restaurants and cafes, has broadened its platform to help struggling restaurants sell food produce and products.
