Forget the food, Mary's Underground is now a music venue

When the hip 'n' happening Mary's crew snapped up The Basement, they rolled out one of the best dinner and show combinations Sydney had seen in decades.

Despite the good food reviews at Mary's Underground, it looks like the future, in the short-term at least, is show-only.

Good Food rang to book a table at the Circular Quay music venue, only to told Valentine's Day had been its last supper.

"Our last service was last week. We're transitioning to a live music- and events-focussed venue," a Mary's Underground staffer said.

Serious dining in a dark, moody venue where some might require night-vision goggles is never an easy sell.

But there's some good news. "You can still get one of our burgers upstairs," she added.
