When Flying Fish restaurant took flight late last year, it relocated to the former Balla restaurant site at The Star. The move left Flying Fish's prized waterfront Pyrmont digs empty and plenty of speculation on Sydney Eat Streets about what's headed in there.

Good Food can reveal a "funky" Asian restaurant is being planned for the site, with chef Chase Kojima from the hatted Sokyo restaurant in charge of the project and The Star (where Sokyo is located) backing the restaurant.

"I can't confirm it, I haven't signed…I'm sure The Star will be in touch when there's something to say," Kojima says.

It is believed the restaurant will open before Easter. There are unconfirmed reports the project might get some creative input from Victor Liong of Melbourne's Lee Ho Fook restaurant. Liong has strong Sydney links, having grown up in the western suburbs and worked at a number of hatted restaurants including Marque. He also has The Star on his CV.
