Fraser Short already owns hotels, restaurants and bars – so why not throw in one of Australia's most famous food farms?

Short confirmed he's snapped up The Farm at Byron Bay from owners Tom and Emma Lane. Its food operator, the Three Blue Ducks crew, isn't going anywhere.

"I don't want to get involved in the Ducks' business. I see opportunity with the farm, really helping the supply chains for small farmers," Short says.

Short, who already owns The Balcony Bar and Oyster Co at Byron Bay, says he and his wife Ally look on the area as a second home.

"We'd probably be living up here if we didn't have so much going on in Sydney. We're passionate about sustainable food sources."
