Darlinghurst stalwart Fu Manchu has joined the hospitality push-back against the food delivery services, dumping them from the restaurant.

With delivery services taking commission of up to 30 per cent, Fu Manchu owner Annie Lee says she "felt like I was working for them".

Lee, who recently relocated the restaurant from its site at the Kirketon Hotel to nearby Victoria Street, says she wanted a fresh start.

While she concedes there has been a drop-off in home delivery since she brought delivery back in-house, Lee says there were several reasons behind her decision.

"I felt like we were looking at screens rather than looking customers in the eye. We're in the hospitality business, not data processing … I want to know who my customers are," she says.
