Gojima, the most innovative of the burger joints opened by chefs during Sydney's most recent burger frenzy, has shut the doors of its founding store.

The "sushi burger" Gojima concept was opened by Sokyo chef Chase Kojima and business partners at The Star in 2016.

Gojima at The Star has closed as its lease concluded, and has relocated to Haymarket.

Kojima wasn't available for comment, and a Star spokesperson said the casino-lifestyle group could only comment as the landlord, as Gojima is not a Star-owned restaurant.

"Chase Kojima is no longer involved in the relationship and is focused on his restaurants with The Star – Chuuka, Sokyo and Kiyomi," the Star spokesperson said.

"We are currently exploring a couple of exciting options to fill the space."
