Just Open: Providence, Carlton

Proving that wholefoods, green smoothies and almond milk lattes aren't the sole preserve of the young and hip, Michael and Eleena Tan, of CBD favourite the Grain Store, have opened stylish Providence in Carlton's swanky new Australian Unity retirement apartments, opposite the Carlton Baths.

The cheery branding and breezy fitout of white bentwood chairs and fruit and vegie illustrations give off good vibes, while the seasonal menu (via ex-Sarti chef Cate Hardman) sources produce almost exclusively from local farmers' markets.

Grab gran and check out the coconut and chia pudding with lime and ginger or an excellent breakfast salad with sticky ham hock, goat's curd and toasted flatbread.

Open Monday to Saturday 7am-4pm; Sunday 8.30am-4pm.
