There's no shortage of ways to send love in the mail during lockdown, but for those short on cash, Melbourne restaurant Lucy Liu is stepping in and offering a heavily discounted banquet in a box.

This week only, the restaurant's drunken chicken, kingfish sashimi with green nahm jim, cold Sichuan noodles and dark chocolate pave, can be ordered and sent to your loved one wherever they are in Melbourne, along with two of the restaurant's signature cocktails, Tropic Thunder. And the price tag is just $58.

The restaurant estimates the value of the box to be more than $100. Owner Zac Cribbes says the business will struggle to cover costs, "but the Lucy Liu team is determined to spread some joy in lockdown".

"In what has been an unprecedentedly difficult year for so many of us, we believe it's still so important to show our compassion and love for our friends and family who may be struggling," says the message on the restaurant's page on delivery platform, Providoor.

But you have to be quick if you want to send this pick-me-up parcel. There are only 200 boxes available and orders must be placed before 29 August.

Order via Providoor.
