Chef and cookbook author Matt Wilkinson is working with the team at Mornington Peninsula winery restaurant Montalto on a series of boxed weekend lunch menus, which will change weekly.

Wilkinson says it's a return to the style of long Sunday lunches he served at hatted St Kilda restaurant Circa, circa 2009.

The first Montalto x Matt Wilkinson at Home menu features free-range chicken rubbed with roasted garlic and preserved lemon, three salads made with produce from Montalto's large kitchen gardens, house-made bread and estate olives, cheese, and two bottles of Montalto wine. It's $140 for two, with free delivery across Melbourne and Mornington Peninsula.

Pre-orders close Wednesday for delivery on September 26 at montaltovineyard.square.site.

It's been a torrid year for Wilkinson, who lost his new restaurant Crofter in February when the Made Group collapsed.

Calling himself a "friend of Montalto", he's now taking things cautiously but says he'll be working part-time at the Red Hill South winery restaurant until at least December.
