It's fair to say that 2019 was the year of the fancy pie, and Melbourne's CBD gets another hot slice of the action this week, with Matt Wilkinson launching a branch of his Brunswick East Pie Shop in Collins Place.

Wilkinson's full range of savoury and sweet pies will now be on sale at both venues, including the chunky Warialda beef pie (the Allen), spag bol banger (the Bruce), the veg-friendly cauliflower and cheese "Shazza" and dessert pies such as the buttermilk and honey tart, Edith.

Open from 8am weekdays (10am weekends), you can get a jalapeno baked bean and cheese pie topped with a fried egg (The Uncle Bruce) for breakfast with a coffee by 36th Parallel.

The Allen and the Edith are also available in family-size to take and bake at home, and for the ultimate tradie lunch, there's a meal deal of a pie, a sausage roll and a drink for $15. Phwoar.
