Meet Masti

Indian cuisine is having a real moment, and adding to the mix is newly launched Brunswick Street restaurant Masti, from Manpreet Sekhon, who also owns Geelong's Eastern Spice. Beyond her butter chicken (of which she is selling up to 50kg a week), Sekhon wants people to try green chilli naan and beetroot goat's cheese rosemary naan, and a turmeric-stained coconut curry loaded with fat scallops. The venue at 354-356 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, is offering take-away and is primed for alfresco dining on the large street corner. eatdrinkmasti.com

Fair Feed flourishes

Need a good news story? This operation began in March, giving a handful of out-of-work chefs a chance to keep cooking while providing diners with nutritious meals (weekend roasts, vegan dhals, cassoulets and handmade gnocchis with ragu) at affordable prices (between $4.50 and $9 a serve). The operation has now sold more than 150,000 meals, moved to larger commercial premises and has 70 workers on the payroll as cooks, marketers and delivery drivers. City-wide delivery is a flat fee of $10. fairfeed.com.au

Bia Hoi is back

Jerry Mai, the indefatigable chef behind Pho Nom and Annam, went on hiatus this lockdown, but has returned with Bia Hoi at home – a four-course finish-at-home menu from her Glen Waverley beer hall. The menu will change every fortnight but currently features a hot and sour soup with barramundi, pork belly braised with coconut water and quail eggs, and fresh rolls wrapped in pho noodles. Orders close on Wednesday for weekend delivery. biahoibar.com.au

Providoor goes regional

Regional Victoria arguably already has the upper hand now that restaurants have been green lit to reopen, but if you live in Anglesea and pine for metro Melbourne's stars, there's good news. Providoor, the service providing restaurant dishes to finish at home is now delivering to the Mornington and Bellarine peninsulas, Gippsland, Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Greater Geelong. That means Supernormal's lobster rolls or a Maha soufra banquet could be heaing your way next week. Delivery is $16.50. Check providoor.com.au for delivery days.

Pub fuel for footy fever

If nothing makes your heart race like a parma or a pie floater, the Australian Venue Co has pulled together the biggest hits from their 30 pubs across Melbourne. Dishes run the gamut from the prawn and lobster rolls from the Exchange Hotel, to puppy parmas from the Newmarket (a mini schnitzel and treats for your schnauzer). And while we hope we'll be able to get to a pub for the grand final (should the reopening road map be accelerated), there are bumper packs featuring wagyu party pies, and "I miss Bunnings" sausage rolls if you're barracking from the couch. ausvenueco.com.au/at-home
