Having top-line chefs Dan Hong or Danielle Alvarez whip up a dinner for home sounds like something you'd have to bid on at a charity auction. But from this week, the opportunity is being dangled in front of Sydneysiders.

The restaurant industry has been waiting for a response from Justin Hemmes to the current predicament, and he's thrown the weight of the Merivale empire behind a start-up that says, "If you can't come to a Merivale venue, it'll come to you".

Merivale at Home has meals from a pedigree stable of chefs that includes Hong and Alvarez as well as Jordan Toft, Mike Eggert and Ben Greeno.

If tucker from kitchens such as Mr. Wong, Totti's, Fred's and Bert's has your tastebuds primed, they are also offering pre-batched aperitifs and wine from the Merivale cellar. A dial-in sommelier service can help you choose a match. The meals for two will be priced between $72 and $105.

We're heartened to see the new home-delivery service also supporting suppliers. Produce boxes include fruit and vegetables from Parisi, Haverick meat and seafood from Poulos Bros. They'll even throw in some chef recipes.
