New Lune rising: Lune croissanterie moves to Fitzroy

Elwood's teeny 30-square metre croissanterie, Lune, will close mid-year. The good news is that owners Kate and Cameron Reid have partnered with Nathan Toleman (Kettle Black, Top Paddock) to open a much bigger venue, in Rose Street, Fitzroy, that's due to open mid-year.

Fitzroy's 400-square metre former-warehouse space is being developed to include three distinct areas. One will be a climate-controlled room for making croissants, the second is for baking, and the third will be for cafe and bakery service.

While the concept and design are still being refined, Kate Reid says plans include an area for customers to be able to watch the croissant-making process. The overall aim is to make "a work and flow process as smooth as possible, and to produce a beautiful product", says Reid.
