Kylie Kwong and the crew from The Grounds of Alexandria had already signed to open venues in the old locomotive workshops at South Eveleigh. Now they'll be joined by Maurice Terzini and Scout's Matt Whiley.

Terzini and Whiley will collaborate on a sustainable "no-waste" bar named RE-, which opens in February.

Whiley says RE- reflects the values of the venue, where recycling, repurposing and refurbishing will be front and centre.

Recycled bottles and Tupperware are being used for a terrazzo look on the bar top, banquettes covered in pineapple-leaf fibre and the furniture made from recycled and reclaimed materials.

While Whiley and Terzini won't be dumpster diving for edibles, Whiley is building a network among markets and producers, tapping leftovers and surplus he'll repurpose.

The venue has another quirky one-off: a heritage-listed outdoor urinal for the workshops' workers. A little something for those with a need to pee, at RE-.
