Oscillate Wildly closed over the last weekend of August but it's a case of one door shuts, another opens for the owner-chef of the Newtown restaurant, Karl Firla.

Pasi Petanen, who is set to reboot his award-winning Cafe Paci (next to Bella Brutta) on King Street in October, has been working at Oscillate Wildly in the lead-in to his own launch.

And it looks like Firla will skip across to Cafe Paci, turning the tables on the employer-employee relationship.

Firla's long-term plans are unknown, but Petanen says his mate will be part of the launch team.

Lots of toques in that kitchen.
