Portuguese restaurant for Potts Point

Inga Ting

Chiado Portugese restaurant and wine bar, headed by Portugese chef Ricardo Ferreira, has opened on Kellett Street, Potts Point.

Ferreira, who most recently worked at one-hat restaurant Uccello at The Ivy, has worked in several European restaurants, including alongside acclaimed Basque chef Martin Berasategui at his eponymous three Michelin star restaurant in Spain.

Co-owner Sarah Robinson, who hails from the Chiado district in Lisbon, says she and her brother have dreamed of opening a Portugese restaurant for almost 15 years.

"But we haven't opened a restaurant earlier because we wanted to get a … qualified chef who could present traditional Portugese food in a contemporary manner," Robinson says.

"With his true passion being traditional Portuguese cooking, Ricardo has embarked on this journey with us intent on showing Australia true Portuguese cuisine."
