If an extra long weekend wasn't enough to put a spring in your step this week, the state government is offering Victorians another round of cash incentives for dining and entertainment. Silly season may have started early.

From 10am today, you can get 25 per cent back when you spend $40 or more on food at cafes, food trucks, bars, restaurants and more. The scheme applies to any transaction in Victoria, which means school holiday road trips over the next two weeks or your grand final celebrations just got cheaper.

Each person can claim up to $125 in total – or you can blow it all on one very splashy dinner of $500, which at the end of the day will only cost you $375.

The government has allocated $25 million to the scheme, which will be available until December 16 or until all the funds have been claimed.

Last time, there was $60 million available and it lasted for three months. But with the silly season fast approaching, we tip that the scheme will not last that long this time around.

The rebates can also be claimed on entertainment such as concert tickets, going to the movies, food festivals, theatre and more.
