Following the successful landing of Matilda in South Yarra chef-restaurateur Scott Pickett has decided to call curtains on his Northcote fine diner, ESP.

The huge investment in the space won't be lost, however. The set-menu restaurant, currently headed up by chef Stephen Nairn, will be merged with its more casual sibling, Estelle Bistro next January.

In a statement, Pickett has said staff will be offered jobs in the rest of the business portfolio which includes Saint Crispin in Collingwood, Matilda 159 Domain and Pickett's Deli at the Queen Victoria Markets.

"ESP was a bit of a stepping stone to Matilda, it's a beautiful restaurant and we're all incredibly proud of what we have created and been delivering there.

With the recent launch of Matilda and continued success of Estelle Bistro, it makes sense to refocus and align our two Northcote restaurants into one, that locals can continue to love and support", said Pickett.

ESP currently holds two chefs hats in the National Good Food Guide. Its final service on August 18 after which, the restaurant will be available for functions.
