Chef Lauren Murdoch has departed Merivale for a second time, just two months after the launch of Bar Topa where she was charged to oversee the food.

The one-time head chef at Merivale's Felix restaurant describes the move as "mutual decision".

Originally brought back on the Merivale train to open a Greek restaurant at Hotel CBD, Murdoch was moved across to the Spanish-leaning Topa.

"I also had to look after Palings and the Thai canteen," she says.

"The role developed into more of a management position than what I would have preferred, my real strength being in the kitchen rather than the office, so the mutual decision was made I should resign."
