Tired of stroganoff? Sick of bolognese? Given up on perfecting that Russian honey cake? Facing a third week of COVID lockdown, many Sydneysiders may be looking for a change to their usual cooking routine, but without the hassle of making a soup, sauce or wonton from scratch. Here are some of the best do-it-yourself restaurant meal kits available for takeaway and delivery this week.

Ramen from Rising Sun Workshop 1C Whateley Street, Newtown

Sydney's only noodle house and motorcycle workshop launched its ramen kits during last year's lockdown, and Rising Sun restaurant manager Rebecca Shave says the kitchen has spent the past 12 months perfecting the packs. $40 kits are designed to feed two and come with recipe cards and essential ingredients such as rib-sticking free-range pork broth, noodles, pork belly, black fungus, bamboo, blackened onion and ajitama egg.

Confirming that it can be cooked by home chefs of all levels, Shave says "if you can boil water you can cook this ramen". Yellowfin tuna mapo tofu from Saint Peter 362 Oxford Street, Paddington

Mr Niland at Home is Saint Peter chef Josh Niland's sustainably sourced and expertly prepared finish-it-yourself meals. The offering and prices change depending on the star ingredients and all meals are designed to serve two.

Lobster spanakopita is sold for this weekend, but orders are open for comforting yellowfin mapo tofu ($55) on Thursday, complete with steamed rice, soft eggs and coriander to finish, while Friday is vadouvan curry pink ling pie night. Pick up between 2pm and 7pm; order through fishbutchery.com.au.

Dumpling kits from Blue Eye Dragon 37 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont

Pyrmont's most-loved Taiwanese restaurant is on hand for $38 dumpling kits containing wrappers and a pork mince, chive and ginger mix. "A few loyal and devoted customers have shared [the kits] with their online parent groups," says Blue Eye Dragon owner Muriel Chen. "They say it's a great activity for children during lockdown."

The packs make 45 to 60 dumplings depending on how plump you like them, and the restaurant also offers a DIY Tawainese braised beef noodle soup for two ($42). Dumpling kits are usually for local delivery and pick-up only, but Chen will deliver to areas including Parramatta, The Hills and Cronulla for bulk orders. Cocktails from The Roosevelt 32 Orwell Street, Potts Point

In lockdown it's easy to miss the small things, such as a perfectly shaken margarita or bracing martini. The Roosevelt bar has Potts Point and surrounding suburbs covered with pre-made classic cocktails including the southside, negroni and Charlie Chaplin, delivered with instruction cards and garnishes for creating the perfect pour. Give thanks, then, to food truck Tsuru which is delivering bao kits within a 20 kilometre radius of Mascot. The $50 packs make 10 bao in a variety of flavours such as chicken teriyaki, hot and spicy pork belly, tofu teriyaki and black pepper beef.
