Fact: there are only 48 hours left to plan your end-of-year celebrations. But it's also a fact that Melbourne is full of restaurants, pubs, wine bars and rooftops that are eager to make up for lost time, and make your night as great as it can be. It might be last minute, but your New Year's plans still have hope.

Of course, if you have any symptoms at all, even mild ones, you should stay at home and get tested as soon as possible. Anyone who plans on socialising on New Year's Eve should do a rapid antigen test before meeting up with people.

Now: ready to raise a glass?

Nabil Ansari at The Windsor (CBD)
Melbourne's favourite roaming Indian restaurant is pulling into The Hotel Windsor on New Year's Eve. Sunda's senior sous chef Nabil Ansari is showing off a few of his tricks across a menu of scallops with tomato consomme and fenugreek, Keralan-style barramundi curry and more. You can start things early, if that's your jam, or stay up late and ring in the new year with a live jazz band. First sitting from $150 for three courses, available from 5pm. Second sitting from $428 for 5 courses and drinks, available from 8pm. Book via thehotelwindsor.com.au

And with a riverside terrace as well as plush indoor areas, there's plenty to love. To book, email info@corkedwb.com with number of tickets required or call 03 9741 0960.

New Year Street Feasts (CBD)
This one actually covers several venues, but think of it as a one-stop shop for party planning that will satisfy all ages, moods and budgets. Melbourne Food & Wine Festival and City of Melbourne have asked nearly 30 restaurants across the CBD and Docklands to put their best outdoor table forward on December 31 and get more revellers into the city to drink and dine their way into 2022. Supernormal, Daughter In Law, Pearl Diver and more are taking part. With seated service, reservations and QR check-ins, it promises to be safe and fun. Nice one.
