If you thought the kombucha craze was headed the way of the friand, time to reassess.

The opening of Australia's first alcoholic kombucha tasting room suggests it's more of a sourdough trend and here to stay.

If it sounds a little Byron Bay, you'd be right. The crew behind kombucha and spirits range, The Dirty Bucha, has opened The Bucha Shed in Byron's hip industrial area.

Its neighbours include fashion and coffee labels.

"We're excited about giving people the opportunity to see what our Bucha and Dirty Bucha is all about," says founder Paul Tansley.

"We want people to touch, taste and take part in the brewing process, have some fun and enjoy a few tasting paddles."

Open Fri-Sat noon-6pm.
