The Istanbul Butcher take meat to a new level

Anthony Bourdain's plans to transform Pier 57 in Manhattan into a culinary paradise bit the dust late year when it was announced the on-off project had been ditched. The late chef had invited Sydney's very own Victor Churchill to come along for the ride at Pier 57 after being wooed by the Woollahra butcher shop during a trip to Australia. While a Pier 57 branch of Victor Churchill might have been side-lined, the designer of the Queen Street shop, Michael McCann, says the interior garnered a host of admirers around the world. "A different client asked me to design the Istanbul Butcher. Even the ceiling is hand-cut marble. It's like the interior I did at Victor Churchill but on steroids," McCann tells Good Food.
