Farmer's Daughters x Starward Whisky Graze + Grains

What: Experience a taste of East Gippsland, and a dram or three of great whisky, as Alejandro Saravia brings his Farmer's Daughters farm-to-table cooking concept to Starward Whisky Distillery for sizzling Saturdays over July, August and September. Gather around for a campfire feast, browse the regional produce market and sip whisky cocktails galore. Alejandro will be cooking up a feast including Starward Whisky cured pastrami using O'Connor's Beef from Gippsland and Lakes Entrance School Whiting cooked over charcoal served with a winter herb salad. And that's just the start of it. Free entry.

Buy a coffee, give to CafeSmart  

What: On Friday August 9 more than 700 cafes from across Australia will donate $1 from every coffee sold (and ask customers to chip in an extra dollar to match) as part of CafeSmart, a national campaign that raises funds for Australians in need. To help smash last year's total, buy your coffee from a particpating cafe this Friday. In Melbourne, that includes Earl Canteen, Axil Coffee Roasters, Rudimentary, Allpress, Moby 3143, Small Axe Kitchen and Auction Rooms.

What:  Turn a wintry weekend afternoon into a special occasion, with bottomless Bollinger by the sea at St Kilda's Stokehouse every Saturday throughout August. For $150 per person, diners will enjoy a seasonally driven two-course lunch and two-hours of bottomless Bollinger  - and those spectacular views across the bay.

The Anything But Square Festival at Federation Square 

What: For most of August, Federation Square is putting on a lineup of the best artistic, dining and sensory experiences Melbourne has to offer; including a Winter Garden, Winter Village, Red Nose Day celebration and a live virtual reality performance. An up-til-now secret spot underneath Fed Square has been transformed into Sensory Underground: An immersive dining experience with Tokyo Tina. The bad news is it's sold out. The good news, it'll be the Asahi Underground Bar from August 22-24.

The Winter Night Market at Queen Victoria Market

What: We're into the home stretch, as over the final four Wednesdays of August, market-goers can escape the winter chill and enjoy the warmth of crackling fires, warming food and drinks, and free live entertainment under the iconic sheds of Queen Victoria Market. This year's Winter Night Market features more than 30 global street food stalls and festival bars, along with 50 specialty stalls to shop from.
