Via Napoli's Luigi Esposito has long been rated among the Sydney's best pizzaioli.

Now he gets to show off some of his skills beyond pizza with the opening on October 27 of The Amalfi Way.

Esposito gave Good Food a sneak peek at his most ambitious opening yet, which sits among strong competition as the new neighbour of Manta, Otto and China Doll restaurants on Woolloomooloo Wharf.

Esposito's "love letter" to the Amalfi is light and bright, with hanging plants, imposing ovens and yellow chairs.

The chef wanted to dish up a little slice of his favourite Italian coastline for Sydneysiders, with lobster carpaccio on its opening menu, along with the restaurant's signature, scialatielli all'Amalfitana, a pasta dish featuring seafood, white wine and chilli.

Given that the Amalfi is close to Naples and Esposito being Esposito, there will still be plenty of pizza on the menu.
