FishCo Downunder, a fantastic fish shop in the Belconnen Markets, is about to open its second shop, near the Fyshwick Markets.

Co-owner Anthony Fragopoulos says they tried to get a spot inside the markets but were voted down by the shopkeepers there, so they’re opening instead just outside, in Dalby Street. This has the advantage of being able to trade seven days. They’re just waiting for Actew to connect the power, then it’s all go, and he’s hopeful they will open in the first week of December.

The Fragopoulos family have operated in Belconnen since 1997, doubling the size of their shop since then, and the formula there works brilliantly – good fish, a huge range, fast turnaround. Meanwhile, Blue Seas, also near the Fyshwick Markets, closed a fortnight ago, but FishCo has taken on the staff.
