Baked on Mort Street will this week add dinner to the menu - and they're out to prove they're well and truly more than just a bakery.

Opened by Clement Chauvin and Abel Bariller, the duo behind French bistro Les Bistronomes, back in October 2017, Baked started as a bakery, patisserie and cafe. The main item on the menu was the bragel, a creation they trade marked which is a hybrid between a bagel and brioche.

Now with a liquor license in hand, they're opening for dinners from Friday April 6, and will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

Dining is more casual, but the menu is quite refined - think cured pork rillettes, buttermilk fried pork belly, salmon tartare or a chicken liver mini eclair. Bragels are on the evening menu in the form of burgers - there is a buttermilk fried chicken, lobster and mushroom option.

Worth going for alone is the wine list - a fun mix of quirky drops from near and far, of course with plenty of French varieties (wines by the glass range from $6-$12 each). Or you can choose from the range of 'tinnies' - from BentSpoke's Morts Gold and Crankshaft, brewed literally next door, to the Young Henry's and Foo Fighter's 'Foo Town' lager, or even a Guinness.

Meals are all designed to be shared and quite affordable, with most plates under $20. Even the 'feed me' option is only $40 per person.
