It's natural for chefs and restaurateurs to dine out and see what the competition is up to.

We cornered some of the country's top chefs ahead of their peer-voted Australia's Top Restaurants awards on Monday night and asked them to share their standout restaurant meal from the past year.

Their favourite dishes may surprise, from a humble roast chicken to a playful game of Guess Who with miniature chocolate bars.
