What's your favourite "cheap eat"?

We’re on a mission to find the best “value” restaurant or cafe in southeast Queensland.

The Burrow in West End is gaining in popularity for its pizzas of an evening and its weekend breakfasts on the upstairs balcony.

Maybe it’s as far afield as Stanthorpe where Jersey Girls has been open three months and serves a massive cheese platter for $22.

Kettle and Tin at Paddington has some old-style milkshakes, and a fabulous duck salad. Fourthchild at Ipswich has a blackboard menu which changes daily depending on locally available produce.

The search is in preparation for the launch of the next Queensland Good Food Guide later in the year.

An award will be presented to the eatery judged to be the best “value” in the state. To qualify, we’re looking for a place which offers a great meal for under $30 a person.

And we want your help. If you have a favourite restaurant, cafe, or hole-in-the-wall eatery which fits the criteria, let us know so we can check it out.

“Good value” can be lots of things to different people, so we’d love to know why you’ve nominated your favourite for the Brisbane Times “Cheap Eats” award.
